Directions

The Center for Future Health is located in the University of Rochester Medical Center.

By Plane

Rochester is served by most major airlines. The Medical Center is about two miles from the airport; commercial taxi service is available from the airport. Cab fares are roughly $10, but will vary depending on the number of people and luggage. Ask to be taken to the University of Rochester Medical Center.

By Car

There is more than one way to get to the Medical Center. These directions are intended to be the simplest route for an out-of-town visitor, and not necessarily the shortest route for a Rochester native. You may want to use an online Map service such as MapQuest to get driving time estimates, but if you are unfamiliar with Rochester, we recommend that you use the directions below.

Getting to the Medical Center

From the South:
Take I-390 North to Exit 17 (Scottsville Rd). Take a left at the light at the end of the ramp onto Scottsville Rd. After half a mile, Scottsville will end in a "Y". Bear to the right onto Elmwood Ave. After half a mile, you will pass under a bridge with the words "University of Rochester" written on it. The Medical Center will appear directly in front of you, on the right hand side of Elmwood Ave.

From the East or West:
NYS Thruway (I-90) to Exit 46; I-390 North and proceed as from the South.

Parking

If the weather is frightful, we recommend that you park in the parking garage. If the garage is full, you will need to park in the visitor's parking lot.

To get to the parking garage, stay on Elmwood after passing under the bridge with the words "University of Rochester" written on it. The first light will be immediately after the bridge. At the second light, make a right into the main UR Medical Center entrance, and then a quick left into the parking garage. You will enter the Medical Center on the 1st Floor.

To get to the visitor's parking lot, bear to the right on Kendrick after passing under the bridge with the words "University of Rochester" written on it. After turning onto Kendrick, immediately shift to the left-most lane. At the first light, make a left onto Crittenden. The visitor's parking lot will be on your right. You will enter the Medical Center on the Ground Floor.

The Medical Center sprawls the length of a city block. To find the Center for Future Health, you will want to use a map.

If you parked in the parking garage, use the 1st Floor map. Take the parking garage elevator to the 1st floor lobby. Walk across the length of the lobby, past the information desk and coffee stand. After the coffee stand, the lobby will narrow to a corridor, and the corridor will shortly come to a "T". Make a right and then a quick left. Follow this hallway to the four-way intersection immediately after the carpet ends. Turn left at the intersection. There will be an elevator to your left. Take this elevator the 5th floor. Make a right out of the elevator, and continue to the end of the hall. Make a left at the end of the hall. The Center Office, room 5-6812, will be several doors down on your left.

If you parked in the visitor's parking lot, use the Ground Floor map. From the parking lot, cross Crittenden Boulevard and enter the Medical Center at the Psychiatry Entrance. After going through the first set of sliding doors, bear to your right. Make a right after going through the second set of sliding doors. Continue walking on this corridor until it ends in a "T" at the Post Office. Make a left at the "T", and continue until you reach your first four-way intersection. There will be an elevator on your right, immediately before the intersection. Take this elevator to the 5th floor. Make a right out of the elevator, and continue to the end of the hall. Make a left at the end of the hall. The Center Office, room 5-6812, will be several doors down on your left.
