BiographyDr. Alice Pentland is Medical Director of the Center for Future Health & James H. Sterner Professor and Chair of the Department of Dermatology at the University of Rochester. She began her career in science with research into photobiology and skin cancer, a field in which she continues to be actively involved today. Since assuming the Chair in Dermatolgoy, she became committed to bringing her field into the digital age. It became clear that this needed to occur in the context of a broader shift in medicine - one that changed our focus from disease care to prevention utilizing advanced technology. Over the past 6 years, she has been working with Philippe Fauchet and others at the University of Rochester and MIT Media Lab to share this vision, resulting in the active programs currently ongoing at the Center for Future Health.
