MEMBER BENEFITS

The Center for Future Health is an ideal place for a cadre of visionary corporations to meet, recommend research and standards, and enable the development, manufacturing, distribution, installation, and adoption of the Personal Health system. By focusing on "health-in-the-home" through invention of a system of technologies and services, Center Members will collectively expand the existing health care continuum. This research will provide a platform and springboard for many business ventures over the next twenty years.

Research

Access to Technology for Research Purposes

You will have access to our technology for research purposes without paying a royalty. Commercialization will require a royalty-bearing licensing agreement.

Intellectual Property - Privileged Position

Through our regular communications with you, you will be current about what we are working on. Then, as we submit patent disclosures, you will be notified and have 90 days to indicate your interest in exclusive or non exclusive licensing for specific geographies and fields of use.

Focused Research Projects

As a member, you may sponsor a specific research project ("Focused Research Project") that could address a particular need. You will have first access to an exclusive or non-exclusive royalty-bearing license to intellectual property arising out of the Focused Research Project, within your organization's appropriate field of use.

All sponsors of Focused Research Projects are active members of the Center for Future Health. As such, they have access to review and license all core technology produced in the Center during their tenure, are members of the Strategic Advisory Board, and are invited to participate in academic forums, symposia, and research reviews, as described in the table below.

Access to the Smart Medical Home as an Independent Test Bed

The Smart Medical Home, located within the University's Center for Future Health, is the most controlled environment available outside of a person's home in which to do research, and is our setting for research in pre-concept testing, concept testing, pilots, and prototype testing. Research for Center Members in the Smart Medical Home is conducted as a Focused Research Project. Each project has a Principal Investigator from the Center and a Project Coordinator. All projects involving human subjects will follow the RSRB (Research Subject Review Board) process and HIPAA regulations through the University. Projects are defined jointly, and project plans and budgets are agreed upon before work starts.

With the approval of the CFH Director, a Member may spend an extended period (from a week to several months) at the Rochester site, for a fee, interacting with graduate students and faculty as a visiting scientist. The Member shall be involved in a variety of activities as may be mutually agreed upon by the Member and CFH.

Interaction with Graduate Students

Members will have the opportunity to meet and interact with graduate students who are immediately prepared to work in the industry. Members are encouraged to provide internships for students at their companies. Final selection will be mutually agreed upon between the Member and the student.
